Natural Wax Candles: Coconut Apricot vs Soy

There are many natural waxes for candles available. When we began our fantasy candle journey, we carefully chose soy wax for how long and clean it burns, and that it was grown in the USA.

Coconut apricot wax is a newer type of wax that we’ve been loving. For now, all of the newer candles are made with coconut apricot wax. All of the original candles are still soy, and say so in the title. New candles will confirm that they’re made with coconut apricot wax in the description.

Which is best? We love them both. If you have a preference or any comments/questions, let us know in the message box below.

Here are the facts.

  • They’re both clean burning.
  • Soy has a slightly stronger cold throw (unlit).
  • Coconut apricot has a slightly stronger hot throw (lit).
  • They both have a burn time range of 40-60 hours, depending on conditions ~ room temperature, draftiness, burn time per session (1-4 hours is best).
  • However, coconut apricot wax burns at a slightly lower temperature so it tends to burn longer.
  • Coconut apricot is slightly more expensive.
  • Coconut apricot is a bit more eco friendly because only the fruits of the trees are used.

Only the new candles are coconut apricot wax. We started with soy wax, and it would take a lot of retesting wick sizes to switch over to coconut wax. Which do you prefer, if either?
